PUCKHEAD HOCKEY was established to provide players of all levels a fun, safe and inexpensive way to enjoy the
game we love. We strive to create an environment where you can meet new friends, get a great work out and improve
on your hockey skills. This is NOT “pick up” hockey. Our games are 90 minutes long and are structured in order to
provide each player equal playing time and opportunity to enjoy the experience.....read more >>
Please help Puckhead Hockey Club support The Ride for Semper Fi
Puckhead Hockey’s very own Steve Wheeler along with 49 other avid cyclists and supporters of the Semper Fi fund will be riding their bicycles (NOT motorcycles) from Scottsdale to San Diego on a 430 mile journey in four days to raise money and awareness for our injured Marines and Sailors that have sacrificed so much to support our freedom that we so often take for granted.
Over the last two years The Ride for Semper Fi has been successful in raising more than $225 thousand dollars for our friends and partners at the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund. This Fund is a non-profit 501C3 organization established to provide financial aid and quality of life solutions to injured Marines and Sailors who have been injured in battle or who suffer from life threatening illnesses.
With Independence day upon us, this is a great time to consider what all of our Service men and women sacrifice each and every day of their lives to protect our freedoms and protect this great country we live in. I can assure you no amount is too small and all added together it goes so far in giving back to our heroes that deserve it most.
Firrst off, Ray and I are proud to report that two of our Puckhead members reached milestones in their hockey careers this week. We love to hear about these because it makes the time and effort we put into this great organization worthwhile.
Michael Brown scored his first ever goal and Michelle Webb scored her first hat-trick! Way to go you two! Keep up the good work and improvement. Puckheads is a great way to improve your skills. Just ask Mike or Michelle!
Also, we are also saying goodbye to another fellow Puckhead, Jackie Klanchnik who will be leaving us May 30th for colder climates. If you are not sure who she is, think back to that time you were skating up to her with the puck and thought for sure you would breeze by that petite little blonde gal, until you felt a smack to your stick and your pride as she picked your pocket and took the puck down the ice for a goal. Yup, that was Jackie.
At least now that she will be leaving us, I will be able to keep my lunch money! Seriously, we wish Jackie all the best in her future endeavors and hope she doesn't forget us.

We received this in the Comments Page from one of your fellow Puckheads, Drew Young. We'd like to thank him for giving us feedback about how we are doing!
Remember, this is just another example of why YOU make this club great.
If you'd like to shoot us your comments, please feel free to do so by clicking the "Contact Us" link. We would love to hear what YOU have to say about Puckhead Hockey!

A Fond Farewell to a Fellow Puckhead.
Before you get all misty eyed, he is still alive.
He is just leaving us for worse weather. Yes, it is with a sad heart that we
would like to wish one of the original Puckheads a fond farewell and best of
luck in his new endeavor as an IT project manager up in the frozen tundra we
call Minnesota.
Mark
Vandaalen has been an exemplary Puckhead. He has played in no less than 26
games with us. Mark is one of those goalies that yearned to stretch his legs
and skate freely amongst the forwards, and so he did. He was also willing, on a
few occasions, to jump back in the net for us. If anyone ever wondered what the
perfect attitude for playing Puckheads was, they needed to look no further than
Mark. Whether you played with him or against him, he was always great fun to
play with and ALWAYS had a smile on his face, just the way we like it playing
Puckhead Hockey.
Mark will be greatly missed by Ray and I and we
hope he does well in Minnesota, we just hope that he remembers us when he comes
back to Arizona to vacation as a snow bird. We will always have a spot open on
the roster for players like Mark.
Mark is pictured below #26. Luckily , his face is somewhat blurred...

Fellow Puckhead Mark is yet another reason PUCKHEAD HOCKEY is so Great!
Please read the story below, authored by Mark:
1st goal (at least 1st goal in a long time, since playing pond hockey on Long Island back in the 70’), by Mark Wangeman, 3/18/10, sometime between 9:00pm and 10:30pm.
And it all started with, “Dad, you should play hockey too...” Dad thought, yeah right, I am too old for that, and haven’t skated in over 30 years. Well, after watching his daughter participate in youth hockey, and looking for a way to escape the summer heat, Dad and “Coach” spent much of last summer skating at the Ice Den during Saturday open skate (Coach still tells Dad, “you need to bend your knees more, don’t be so stiff..”. After enjoying skating last summer, Dad made the mistake of going with his daughter to Behind the Mask, and you probably can guess the rest…
After a few trips to Behind the Mask, Dad was hooked, bought the “senior” package, a new pair of skates and headed south to Polar Ice Gilbert for adult 101 and adult skills. Dad heard about Puckheads, signed up and played his first game in December, and is really glad his daughter said “Dad, you should play hockey too...”
Thanks Eric and Ray for putting this together.
Mark Wangeman and daughter (Coach) Rachel.

Two Outstanding Achievements - One Great Puckheads Game!
This Sunday's game proved to be a special Puckhead game for
two of our fellow Puckhead Club members:
Karalee Hoge, one of our first members, scored her first ever goal! On Karalee's second shift of the game, after
receiving a headman pass from yours truly, carried the puck over the left side
of the blue line, brought it in and scored. She commented after she was congratulated
on the bench that it was her first goal ever scored in a game! The next shift,
I skated out and grabbed the game puck, and saved it for her. Way to go
Karalee. Karalee has been improving every game since she started playing with
us. She has been working really hard and has been getting on the ice as much
as she can. Her hard work has really paid off. Be sure to give her some grief
when you see her!
Also...
Dave Beber, our resident Sunday night goalie since Puckheads
began, tallied the first ever Puckhead shutout! That's right, a shutout on both
lines! You might think to yourself, that's cool but not that big of a deal,
right? Wrong! Puckhead game scores are routinely in the double digits. I can
tell you for a fact that Dave played an outstanding game and made several beautiful
saves. Dave gloved one from Ray that I thought for sure was gonna sneak by. He
was controlling his rebounds and really was just playing solid, top notch goal.
I know for a fact at least one other goalie who is jealous that Dave got a
shutout, let alone the FIRST one!
These are just two examples of how Puckheads equals GREAT hockey.
Thanks again to everyone who makes Puckheads so much fun! Our common goal of playing great hockey while having a fun time is what its all about.
